A MATLAB®-based Estimator of Fatigue Life

MLife (pronounced em-life) is a set of MatLab scripts that calculate fatigue life and statistics for one or more time series. Although we developed MLife to process wind turbine test or simulation data, it may also be useful for other types of data.

MLife is similar to the fatigue portion of MCrunch, but only one time series needs to reside in memory at once, so it uses far less memory. It should be much faster than MCrunch when processing many files. Unlike MCrunch, you can process an entire loads suite in a single job.

Once we are satisfied that MLife is correctly duplicating the fatigue features of MCrunch, we will add additional features.

The latest release of MLife includes new joint probability distributions functionality.

    This is the MLife User's Guide. Please refer to it when trying to understand how the program works.

  • MLife Draft Theory Manual (v1.00, 503 KB, 19-October-2012)

    This a draft of the MLife Theory Manual. So far, it includes information about the fatigue calculations.

  • MLife Archive (alpha v1.01.00a-gjh, 32.1 MB, 30-October-2015)

    This is the self-extracting archive of the latest alpha version of MLife. Simply execute it in an appropriate directory to extract the files. It contains a ReadMe file, alpha change log, the source code, sample data files, a certification script to test your installation.  This release does not contain a compiled version of the software.

  • Previous MLife Archive (alpha v1.00.00f-gjh, 30.1 MB, 19-October-2012)

    This is the self-extracting archive of the latest alpha version of MLife. Simply execute it in an appropriate directory to extract the files. It contains a ReadMe file, alpha change log, the source code, sample data files, a certification script to test your installation, and a compiled version of the code. The scripts are compatible with MatLab 7.13.0 (R2011b)®.

  • MatLab Component Runtime Installer (win64) (v7.16, 413.4 MB, 14-August-2011)

    If you do not own MatLab and want to be able to use MLife, you will have to use the compiled version of MLife. The MatLab Component Runtime (MCR) is a library of support routines you need to run the compiled version of MLife. The MCR is free. You must install it as a Windows application before using the compiled version of MLife. We support only Windows with the compiled version.  The other files you need to run the compiled version are located in MLife's Compiled folder.
