In conjunction with the North American Wind Energy Academy (NAWEA) 2015 Symposium, I led a pre-conference seminar on June 8, 2015 regarding the FAST wind turbine multi-physics engineering tool. The presentation provides an overview of FAST and outlines the planned transition to an open-source developer community. In partnership with the Norwegian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy (NORCOWE) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), I led a Wind Turbine Modeling Workshop in Bergen, Norway on September 11-12, 2014. The presentations and sample simulations that were presented at this workshop are now available from: http://wind.nrel.gov/public/jjonkman/Pr ... genNorway/. The presentations and sample simulations provide an overview of the NREL-developed CAE tools, with a focus on FAST v8.

In partnership with the Norwegian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy (NORCOWE) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a workshop on the FAST wind turbine computer-aided engineering (CAE) software tool developed by NREL will be held on September 11 – 12, 2014 in Bergen, Norway. This workshop is being held in conjunction with the offshore wind conference Science Meets Industry Bergen taking place September 9. Modeling workshop to be held on 9-Aug-2013

Dear Wind Turbine Modeling Enthusiast,

A workshop on the FAST wind turbine computer-aided engineering (CAE) tool developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will be held on August 9 at the University of Colorado Boulder. This workshop is being held in conjunction with the 2013 North American Wind Energy Academy (NAWEA) Symposium taking place August 6-8.

To attend the FAST workshop, you must register for the NAWEA Symposium and indicate your desire to attend the workshop on the registration form. Please note that the FAST workshop will be limited to the first 50 registrants. More information, including a registration form, is available here: http://www.nawea.org/2013-symposium/.

Workshop for FAST developers to be held 8-Oct-2012

Dear Wind Turbine Modeling Enthusiast,

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Wind and Water Power Program will be hosting a workshop on the new modularization framework for the FAST wind turbine computer-aided engineering (CAE) tool. This workshop is specifically targeted at participants of the projects funded through DE-FOA-0000415 who are developing new offshore-related features for FAST, but other users of FAST who contribute (or are planning to contribute) to its development are encouraged to attend. This half-day workshop is free and will be held in conjunction with the AWEA OFFSHORE WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition in Virginia Beach, VA (USA) on October 8, 2012.

More information, including the workshop invitation, agenda, and registration form are attached. Registration will be limited to approximately 50 people, and preference will first be given to DE-FOA-0000415 project participants. We will open up a net-meeting for those who cannot attend in person. Those interested in attending (either in person or by net-meeting) should submit their registration form by September 21.
