We are happy to announce the release of the new http://nwtc.nrel.gov
website, which replaces much of the old wind.nrel.gov website. The new website is still used for NREL/NWTC’s sharing of software and data with the wind engineering community, but sports a more modern, flexible, and easier-to-navigate interface. The new website also resolves a fundamental complaint with the previous website—that user information had to be entered separately with every download. You can browse the new website without logging in, but most downloads now require registering for an account and logging in with a username and password. While registration is now required for most downloads, the software and data are still free and open source.
Please note that most of the software and data available on the new website are the same as what was available on the old website, but the formatting and organization have changed. We are working to redirect all the old links, but if you find one that doesn't work, please use the new search feature in the upper left on the new site. In addition to the CAE tools that already exist, a new class of tools has been added as part of the new Wind-Plant Integrated Systems Design and Engineering Model (WISDEM) suite. These new models include design, sizing and cost tools as well as the overarching WISDEM software which integrates them together. Look for a more detailed announcement about the new models in the near future.
